Father’s responsibility upon their son after marriage

I pray this message finds you in good health.

My question is regarding father’s/parents’ responsibilities upon their son after marriage. If the son is working meaning a job under his father’s business, should the father pay the same amount to his son as his salary as he pays his other workers?

And if the son and his wife stays together with the parents in the parents’ house then is the son supposed to give his and his wife’s financial expenses to the parents and is the son supposed to use his own salary money for all his other expenses example travelling?

(His expenses means the expenses for the things that he and his wife will have while he is at his parents house meaning the money for groceries food etc including everything that he will have access to in his parents house for him and his wife)

Also, is the son supposed to give out some amount from his salary to his parents as their haq (rights&duties)?

(Meaning is there any specific amount that he has to give his parents from his salary as part of his duties to his parents)

I understand that these questions are a bit long but I request to be answered as soon as possible since it’s very urgent for them to know.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

In principle, it is not the responsibility of the father to maintain his Baaligh (adult) sons. However, if the sons are sickly that they cannot earn or do not have any earnings, then it will be the fathers responsibly to maintain them. If an adult son is diligently studying Ilm (Deeni knowledge) and has no source of income, it is the father’s responsibility to maintain him.

If the son is working for the father in the business, the father should remunerate him for his work so that he can maintain himself and take care of his expenses. The salary may be any mutually agreed amount.

If the son and his wife stay with the parents, if the parents agree to take care of their expenses, then this will be a gesture of good will. If the parents decide to make the son responsible for his expenses, they may do so.

The son is not obliged to give any of his earnings to his parents as part of their right upon him. You may read our answer on: Are Children responsible for parents maintenance here.
